When the citizens of Hinton became aware of the devastating effects of
methamphetamine, they took action.

The Hinton Community Drug Action Committee was formed after the Town of Hinton brought citizens together in February 2003 to discuss the growing problem. They knew that methamphetamine led users to other criminal activity to pay for their habit. The committee developed a four-step action plan that called for a major public awareness campaign, targeted prevention programs, more coordinated law enforcement protocols and improved access to detoxification centres.
